Superficial Radiation Therapy by Tru-Skin Dermatology

If you have been suffering from non-melanoma skin cancer and are looking for a minimally invasive procedure to help, our team of skin care experts at Tru-Skin Dermatology are ready to assist you. With the IG-SRT in Central Texas, we can treat basal carcinomas, squamous carcinomas, and unsightly keloids. Our IG-SRT treatment is used to preserve the beauty and health of your skin without the downtime, side effects, and cosmetic issues that are often associated with invasive surgery. Tru-Skin Dermatology proudly offers the IG-SRT treatment right from the comfort of our office.

Why Should I Choose the SRT-100 Treatment?

The IG-SRT treatment option that Tru-Skin Dermatology proudly offers is a minimally invasive procedure that can accurately treat basal carcinomas and squamous carcinomas. IG-SRT is an image-guided treatment that allows our expert physicians to accurately identify the cancer and precisely treat it without damaging the healthy areas of your skin. These treatments are relatively painless, they do not involve surgery, and they are completed without stitches and scarring. The IG-SRT treatment can be used to target lesions found on almost any area of the body, including the arms, legs, back, head, trunk, and neck. This treatment omits the need for plastic surgery following the treatment of your skin cancer lesions because there is no cutting involved. Your skin will be preserved by using IG-SRT.

Feel confident about your skin with the SRT-100 Vision.

How Does the SRT-100 Work?

IG-SRT stands for Image Guided Radiotherapy. The SRT-100 is a device that targets superficial non-melanoma skin cancer and keloids. At our office, our physicians will accurately use the SRT-100 to identify and target cancer cells on the skin. The SRT-100 uses a low level of X-ray energy to kill the cancer cells that are present. Once these cells have been killed, it allows for new, healthy cells to grow back in place of the cancer. The main alternative to SRT-100 treatment is Mohs surgery, which is a more invasive surgical procedure that requires cutting the skin and stitching it back together in order to remove the cancer cells.

What to Expect During the SRT-100 Treatment

At the beginning of your treatment, you will be instructed to sit in a chair, and a special gel will be applied to the area where there is skin cancer. Our team will use an ultrasound imaging wand to identify and look at the skin cancer that is present. With this technology, we are able to measure the size and shape of the cancer. This assists with defining the proper treatment area. We will then target the area with the SRT-100 and distribute the correct amount of X-ray energy to the site. This ensures that none of the surrounding healthy tissue is affected. The treatment sessions typically take about 15 minutes from the time you walk in to when you leave our office. This treatment will be administered to you several times a week for several weeks, and then the treatment will be complete. For more resources regarding IG-SRT, visit GentleCure.

Dr Ladd is the Medical Director for Sensus Healthcare’s Center of Excellence in Dermatology. This educational organization is charged with teaching dermatologists the twin technologies of the SRT-100 Vision: High Definition Ultrasound and Superficial Radiation Therapy. After a decade of treating skin cancers with traditional surgical options including Mohs surgery, Dr Ladd recognized that his patients would benefit from using a non-invasive technology to avoid cutting, scars, stitches and pain. Ultrasound imaging allows dermatologists to localize, see and precisely measure the depth and lateral edges of skin cancers without a scalpel for the first time in history.

This ongoing series of measurements allows dermatologists to accurately assess and adjust the level of superficial radiation therapy to optimize the process of replacing cancerous cells with normal ones. Daniel J. Ladd, DO works with an accomplished team of certified radiation therapy technologists (RTTs) to provide a multi-specialty level of support to dermatologists interested in bringing the latest in non-invasive skin cancer treatment technology to their patients.
