Eczema Awareness Month

Bethany Hughs with Eczema Awareness Month

A Note from Bethany Hughes, PA

This October, we are bringing attention and awareness to a common skin problems – Eczema. Eczema is one of the most common skin conditions we treat at Tru-Skin Dermatology. It affects people of all ages and skin types. There are several known triggers of eczema including fragrance, dry air, sweat and stress.

At Tru-Skin, our providers cater specific regimes to improve eczema and reduce flares. Applying moisturizers after bathing is an important aspect of eczema treatment. Moisturizers act as a protective barrier, prevent water loss and heal compromised skin. Over-bathing can cause eczema to flare so be sure to limit bath time.

Patients with eczema should apply moisturizers that are:

1. In cream or ointment form
2. Fragrance free
3. Dye free

Eczema patients are more prone to staph aureus infections. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, studies show that adding small amounts of bleach can improve eczema.

At Tru-Skin, we sell CLn facial and body wash, which ‘takes the most important ingredient of the bleach bath and provides a clinically proven daily cleanser. Now you can repair and protect compromised skin in a gentle, safe, and easy way.’
